Here’s an update from Ryan in Antarctica!
“Well the group is finally on the way toward 81 degrees latitude after spending a short day yesterday essentially traversing laterally along the 80 degree line to get into position to ski south around crevasse fields. Today was a big climb up and we are at 700 meters elevation and can just begin to see what we think in the afternoon light was the tops of the three sails mountains. Tomorrow our plan is to ski almost a full day for this time in the trip however we are careful to not overdue the time on skis just yet, with heavy sleds and still climbing upward out of the inlet. Some blisters are starting to form even though we taped up before departing, but this is the nature of a heavy polar ski trip. To work through the little nagging things at the start. Onward and literally upward and a happy thanksgiving to the Americans following along.”
