We are still at Mt Vinson basecamp today, we arrived yesterday hoping to fly back to Union Glacier the main hub camp, but the weather was cloudy so they couldn’t come in with the plane. We summited on the 16th and it went well, long time waiting at the low camp, 6 days, for weather to improve.
Now the complicated dance of getting out of here and our 2 additional skiers coming down on the plane from Chile potentially today, it will be a quick transition once we all get to Union Glacier to get everything organized and then fly out to do the South Pole ski trip.
It is overcast today and We are not so confident we will get out of here but fingers crossed the planes can start coming in and pulling climbers out of here back to Union Glacier.
We are all feeling in good shape again after the climb and a rest. Now we just have fun with all the shoveling of snow making tents and kitchens and storage caches of our gear along with marveling at the views of the incredible mountains around!
All else is good!
