April 4th in Kathmandu, Nepal. The climbers on Everest and Lhotse for the 2023 Spring climbing season are arriving today along with the first wave of Everest Base Camp Trekkers. It is going to be an exciting season with several projects going on. We have a team of 5 climbers on a mixture of Everest and Lhotse or the combo of the two mountains. On the first wave of Trekkers going into base camp with the team includes 15 members who will walk the 9 day amazing trek and stay for 2 nights in the Mountain Professionals Base Camp. Many of these trekkers on the first wave are in support of one of our Everest and Lhotse climbers this season Lonnie Bedwell. Lonnie will be part of the Sightless Summits project attempting to become the first blind climber to ascend both of these 8,000 meter peaks back to back.
Michael Neal and Bryan Hill also with Sightless Summits will also be attempting both Everest and Lhotse. In addition, we have climbers Michael Enter (Everest) and Katrina Follows (Lhotse). They will be supported mainly by 3 mountain guides, Tashi Riten Sherpa, Dawa Finjo Sherpa, and Ryan Waters, in addition to our Sherpa guide staff on the mountain and an incredible team of camp staff.
Later in April, the next wave of 8 Everest Base Camp Trekkers will being. This is a project for Save One Life. A nonprofit Hemophilia Organization raising funds for their programs in Nepal and beyond. Chris Bombardier, the first Hemophiliac to climb Everest and the seven summits with Mountain Professionals will be along on the trek and is excited to return to Nepal!
Lastly in May we have another 2 person Mtn Pros EBC trekking group coming in to visit us in the base camp. So it will be several waves of our team members throughout the season.
