Jaco was born in the North of Italy, near the Alps, but his love for mountains and nature was born when he started wandering the world. His first summit was in the Italian “spine”, the Gran Sasso mountain, at 17 years old in the heart of Appennini Range. While travelling through different continents, his love and commitment with nature began through different sports such as climbing, kayaking, mountaineering, backcountry skiing, surfing and more.
He then realized that he wanted to make his passion for wild places his career. This is when he began his path into tourism and guiding. Jaco believes that there is a deep responsibility as a guide, not only for the safety and to make an experience, but also to transmit how to protect and explain how to understand the incredible nature of our planet.
Jaco’s experiences guiding in kayaks, mountains, trekking, horseback, climbing and in wildlife safaris have taken him to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and Europe, but his base is currently in the Chilean Patagonia. He has taken part in extensive guide training: wilderness first responder, first aid, ice field crossing, level 1 and 2 mountaineering, helicopter rescue, and avalanche first response. Jaco lives in Puerto Natales, Chile.
